So I have spent a LOT of time digging through old threads here and on customemagnums, googling till my fingers hurt and calling around, and so far it seems the best answer I can get is "I don't know, but maybe".
All I am trying to find out, 100%, is if I replace my dead REC from my factory boston premium sound with an aftermarket head unit, will my EVIC controls still work providing I don't add any sort of steering wheel interface and if I need an interface to do this, which one? That's it. Basically I have come to the point where I really don't care if I can still control the radio with the steering wheel buttons but I ABSOLUTELY do not want to lose the EVIC controls.
If I MUST have some sort of interface to accomplish this can ANYONE tell me which one I need. I spent over an hour in a chat session with crutchfield yesterday and I have sent way too many emails to PAC and it really seems (from the answers that I am getting) that I am the first LX owner in history to try and do this. lol
I can't imagine this should be as hard as it has been to get a straight answer so I am close to begging here...please, if ANYONE here has pulled their REC (with the boston system) and replaced with ANY aftermarket HU, were you able to keep all EVIC controls with the steering wheel buttons without keeping the radio controls? If so, how'd you do it (seems like this may be one of the hidden mysteries of the universe)? :)
Thanks again for any input. Even though I haven't found the exact answer I've been looking for while searching here, I sure did stumble along some pretty awesome tips and info along the way. :)
Cheers
