What would cause my car to die randomly at low speeds?

This hasn't happened often but when it has it's been shortly after start up so the engine is still warming up. My car also has nearly 180k miles but all maintenance I can think of has been taken care of. What happens is that the car starts fine, idles fine, I back out of the driveway and I put it into drive and after I give it a little throttle it will stumble on itself for a minute but usually gets going just fine.

This most recent time I was driving around the neighborhood checking out Christmas lights (car was close to normal op temp) and the car died without any warning.
Again, this doesn't happen often but the car is my DD and I want to make sure that this isn't a precursor to something major getting ready to fail.
