e brake opinion needed asap

1st time tonight on my way home from work, a slight squeak from rr. Got home and jacked it up, bearings tight but crunchy rust sound when turning the wheel. Likely p brake shoes. So... I have srt parts to go on in spring and don't want to spend $$ now to waste later. If the shoes aren't separated, can I turn adjuster all in to pull them fully away from the rotor and get by till spring? I don't use p brake anyway. Or do I need to bite the bullet and change them anyway? The wheel wasn't hardly warm so they aren't dragging.

Thanks for your opinions.
