I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT8 (made in October of 05) with 58K miles on it and I very much dislike this transmission. From what I read in its stock form its a great power handling transmission but the shifting is just terrible.
I have owned several cars in my life and unfortunately by far this transmission is the weirdest transmission ever.
I mean I have to press the gas going down hill at 35mph because it wont shift and while going uphill it holds gears until 2800rpm (3200 on rare occasions).
I got to drive my buddies 2013 charger that has 7k miles on it and it does the exact same thing and because his is still under warranty and because he took it to the dealership so many times they finally (reprogrammed it) and its much better now. I asked about mine and they told me they could do nothing.
Because of this I am thinking its all the the programming and not in the transmission itself. So I purchased the Mopar TCM. The adaptive process is a pain in the A** to do but after a couple mistakes and total adaptive resets I was able to follow the process to the letter. It still holds gears going downhill much too long but it has improved however going uphill it still holds the gear until 2800ish RPM.
About the only other PCM I can find is at paramount performance. I contacted them and they said the complete auto part of their TCM is pretty much stock and all their modifications are in the fun auto-stick side.
Is anyone else having issues like this?
What are some potential fixes?
All trans mods include:
Diablo InTune (if it has anything to do with the NAG1)
Tranzformer
Mopar TCM
Thanks for any help
