Hi
I just got my new forged 405CI motor installed and tune 1 month ago.
On my 2 last trip to the track, I came back home on towing because I blew up the power steering pump !
First one, the seal starts to leak, pump was the OEM at 130,000 miles on it, I didn't complain and change it by a rebuilt one.
1 week after, At the drag strip, I was on my first run, bet start ever with a 1.56 60 feet !
After the 1/8 of a mile mark, Lost boost and power steering, I knew I blew up a strap, after a closer look, there was no more power steering pulley !
The shaft of the pump just snapped.
My question is, Is this because of the 17% overdrive crank pulley or the Rebuilt pump was a bad one ?
I am wondering if a new OEM one will do better or I just go with the rebuilt one under warranty and go with it again ?
I have a little place to install a bigger pulley, I will make a drawing and get it machine to slow the pump a bit to put less load anyway.
